Disact raises ISK 85 million

Disact has completed a funding round, raising close to ISK 85 million from investors. Disact is one of the companies selected to participate in Frumsjóður 2025, an initiative of The New Business Venture Fund Kría.

Disact is an Icelandic innovation company specialising in the detection, treatment, prevention and monitoring of mould, microorganisms, bacteria and indoor air quality. The company’s approach is based on research, science and recognised solutions, offering a comprehensive process in which problems are identified, treated and followed up with solutions designed to support healthy indoor air over the long term.

Disact’s offering includes testing for mould, microorganisms and bacteria using Mycometer technology, which provides measurable data on the extent of contamination in buildings; treatment using Disact’s specialised technology and proprietary formula; air quality monitors; preventive solutions; and ongoing monitoring using ActivePure air quality technology.

ActivePure is a recognised technology used, among other settings, in healthcare facilities and is registered as an FDA Class II medical device. The technology uses oxidising molecules and forms part of Disact’s vision to make better indoor air quality more accessible to businesses, institutions and households.

“We want to see more people become as passionate about good indoor air quality as we are — whether in their own homes, workplaces, schools, preschools, healthcare facilities or other spaces where people spend time every day,” says Sólveig R. Gunnarsdóttir, Chair of the Board of Disact, in a press release published on vb.is.

She says the funding marks an important milestone for the company.

“We are very pleased with the confidence investors have shown in the company. This milestone would not have been possible without the strong recommendations and trust of our customers over the years. The involvement of The New Business Venture Fund Kría and new shareholders significantly strengthens Disact and enables us to respond to the strong interest we are seeing in the market.”

She says the next step is to increase access to monitoring, testing and preventive measures.

“We believe that air quality monitors and air quality monitoring should be standard in every workplace, preschool and primary school in Iceland. Better data makes it possible to identify problems earlier, respond more quickly and make informed decisions about buildings and people’s health.”

According to Sólveig, the funding will be used to support the company’s continued growth, strengthen sales and marketing activities, expand service capacity and further develop its solutions for businesses, public-sector organisations, real estate companies, the healthcare sector, schools and other building operators.

Alongside the funding round, Disact has been developing strong partnerships with key players in the market, including Dagar, one of Iceland’s largest cleaning and facility services companies. Such partnerships accelerate the adoption of Disact’s solutions and enable the company to serve a broader range of customers.
