Hrönn Greipsdóttir, CEO of The New Business Venture Fund Kría, has a diverse professional background in the private sector and is an experienced executive and board member.
She began her career in the tourism industry, serving as Head of the Domestic Travel Department at Úrvals-Útsýn from 1991 to 1995 and later as Managing Director of Radisson SAS Hotel Saga Ltd. from 1998 to 2007.
In 2007, Hrönn transitioned into the financial sector, first as Managing Director of SPRON Factoring and later as Head of a Business Division at Arion Bank. In 2014, she joined Arev Securities to establish and manage an investment fund that was then in development. The investment company Eldey Ltd. was formally established in late 2015, and its asset management and custody functions were later transferred to Íslandssjóðir hf. Eldey invested directly and indirectly in 12 companies within the tourism and leisure sector, where many startup companies were launched and developed. In 2021, Eldey’s investment portfolio was sold to Kynnisferðir Ltd., and the companies were merged the following year under the name Icelandia.
Hrönn assumed the role of Managing Director of the Innovation Fund of Icelandic Industry on 1 May 2022 and subsequently became CEO of The New Business Venture Fund Kría at the beginning of 2025. Throughout her career, Hrönn has served on the boards of numerous companies, ranging from early-stage startups to regulated financial institutions. She has also served on the boards of public institutions and industry associations.
Hrönn holds a Cand.Oecon. degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland, an MBA in Finance from City University London, and has completed certification in securities brokerage from Reykjavík University.
