Hrönn is the CEO of the New Venture Fund, Kría. She has extensive professional experience in the Icelandic business sector and is a seasoned executive and board member. She began her career in tourism, serving as Head of Domestic Travel at Úrval-Útsýn from 1991 to 1995 and as Managing Director of Hótel Saga ehf. from 1998 to 2007. In 2007, Hrönn transitioned into the financial sector, first as Managing Director at SPRON Factoring and later as Head of the Corporate Division at Arion Bank.
In 2014, she joined Arev Securities to establish and manage a new investment fund. The investment company Eldey was formally founded in late 2015, initially managed by Arev before its asset management and custody were transferred to Íslandssjóðir hf. in mid-2016. Eldey invested directly and indirectly in 12 companies in the tourism and leisure sector, where many start-ups emerged. In 2021, Eldey’s portfolio was sold to Kynnisferðir hf., and the companies were merged under the name Icelandia the following year.
Hrönn became CEO of the New Business Venture Fund on May 1, 2022, and took over as CEO of the New Venture Fund, Kría, at the beginning of 2025.
She has served on the boards of numerous companies, ranging from small start-ups to regulated financial institutions. In addition, she has been a board member of public institutions and industry associations, including the Icelandic Tourist Board and the Icelandic Travel Industry Association.
Hrönn holds a Cand. Oecon degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland, an MBA in Finance from City University, London, and has also completed a securities trading license from Reykjavik University.
