This week, Hrönn Greipsdóttir, CEO, and Valdimar Halldórsson, Investment Manager at The New Business Venture Fund Kría, visited Aurora Abalone (Sæbýli) in Grindavík. The company produces abalone at its facilities in Grindavík and plans to develop sustainable, industrial-scale farming for international markets at the Resource Park on the Reykjanes Peninsula.
The New Business Venture Fund Kría is connected to Aurora Abalone through matching loans granted in 2020. The company’s operations in Grindavík are ambitious, and its plans for the future are highly promising, combining innovation with Iceland’s unique natural conditions to support further growth.
Abalone is one of the world’s most valuable farmed seafood products, and Aurora Abalone’s products are of exceptionally high quality compared with farmed abalone produced elsewhere in the world. The company’s current production is supplied, among others, to some of Europe’s finest restaurants.
The company is continuing its work on securing financing for the planned expansion of its production capacity.
Sigurður Pétursson, Chairman of the Board, and Richard Kristinsson Dulaney, CEO of Aurora Abalone, welcomed Hrönn and Valdimar and gave them an introduction to the company’s operations.
