Sweeply recently entered into a partnership agreement with Leonardo Hotels, one of Europe’s largest hotel chains. Sweeply develops solutions for hotel operations and has experienced rapid growth in international markets in recent years. Today, 40% of the company’s revenue comes from hotels abroad, and Sweeply’s solution is used by 250 hotels in 26 countries.

“It is gratifying to see Icelandic innovation gain such a strong foothold internationally. We are shaping how the hotels of the future will be operated, and the partnership with Leonardo Hotels is a major milestone on that journey,” says Þórhildur Edda Gunnarsdóttir, CEO of Sweeply.

The company also says it is rethinking how hotels are run by using artificial intelligence to connect processes that have so far been fragmented.

This year, Sweeply will introduce new solutions that bring together housekeeping, maintenance, guest requests, and workforce planning. Sweeply’s AI will analyze operations in real time, recommend prioritization, coordinate tasks across teams, and reduce manual work.

“Hotel operations involve managing countless moving parts simultaneously, and when it’s done well, guests can feel it. We want to help hotels increase automation and reduce time-consuming, low-value manual work so staff can spend more time on what matters most—the guests,” says Þórhildur.

Sweeply was founded in 2019 and joined the portfolio of the Icelandic Venture Fund Kría in 2020.
