Pési prakkari premiered last weekend

Pési prakkari and Tulipop

A new Icelandic animated film from Tulipop premiered at Sambíóin cinemas this weekend. Pési prakkari is a brand-new Halloween adventure set in the magical world of Tulipop, created for young children. Tulipop was founded in 2010 and became part of The New Business Venture Fund Kría’s portfolio in 2022.

An article about Tulipop and Pési prakkari, featuring an interview with Helga Árnadóttir, co-founder and CEO of Tulipop, was published in Morgunblaðið this weekend to mark the premiere. Among other things, the article reveals that around one hundred people were involved in making the film, which took just over a year to complete. Daði Freyr also composed two original songs for the film. Helga describes it as a mysterious autumn adventure and a warm and entertaining story with a positive message.

The story takes place in autumn on Tulipop Island, where the friends are busy preparing for Halloween. When pumpkins suddenly start disappearing one by one, the search begins for the mysterious prankster Pési. The 30-minute animated film is specifically aimed at children aged three to six.

Tulipop continues its international expansion

Pési prakkari is the second of three Tulipop animated films. The first, Vetrarsaga, was released before Christmas last year, while a third film, featuring a troll-themed story, is already in production and is scheduled for release next year.

Tulipop has also achieved considerable success internationally. The animated series Adventures of Tulipop is now being shown in more than 20 countries by over 30 broadcasters and streaming platforms and has been dubbed into around 12 languages. Tulipop’s YouTube channel has generated more than 60 million views, and a deal was recently signed to publish 15 Tulipop children’s books in Italy.

Pési prakkari was produced in collaboration with Nordic public service broadcasters and will be distributed across the Nordic countries next year, before beginning its journey to audiences around the world.

“The goal is, of course, to conquer the world, and we are constantly getting closer to that goal, one step at a time,” Helga says in her interview with Morgunblaðið.
