Visits from Greenland, Norway and Finland

The New Business Venture Fund Kría (NSK) recently held productive meetings with representatives from two investment institutions based in Greenland and Finland. The fund also welcomed representatives from Nordic Innovation, a Nordic organization supporting innovation. The visitors were in Iceland in connection with the Arctic Circle Assembly, held in Reykjavík.

From Greenland, NSK welcomed Peter Christiansen, CEO, and Marte Lona, Specialist, both representing Nalik Ventures. Nalik Ventures is a Greenlandic investment fund that provides financing through investments and loans for various projects in Greenland, including innovation initiatives. The fund aims to promote economic growth and business development in Greenland and was established in 2022 through the merger of Greenland Holding, Greenland Venture and Innovation Greenland.

During the meeting, representatives from Nalik Ventures and NSK discussed various aspects of their respective activities, with a particular focus on innovation and the opportunities and challenges facing both countries.

From Finland, NSK welcomed Þórhallur Þorsteinsson and Joakim Holmström, both representing Nefco, a Nordic financial institution headquartered in Helsinki. Nefco focuses on financing environmentally sustainable projects across the Nordic countries. Established in 1990, Nefco is owned by the five Nordic countries. The institution has financed several projects in Iceland, including companies in NSK's investment portfolio.

Finally, NSK welcomed Emil Gejrot and Ösp Egilsdóttir, advisers at Nordic Innovation, to its offices. They introduced Nordic Innovation and outlined the organization's key priorities and initiatives. In return, NSK representatives presented the fund's role in Iceland and discussed the development of the country's innovation ecosystem.

Nordic Innovation is headquartered in Oslo and operates under the Nordic Council of Ministers. The organization provides funding for projects promoting sustainability and environmental initiatives. Its priorities vary from year to year, and it has supported numerous projects in Iceland and across the other Nordic countries.

We would like to thank them all for their enjoyable visits.
