Hefring Marine

Hefring ehf. was founded to develop Hefring Marine, an intelligent navigation guidance system for boats and small vessels. The system’s core module, HM Captain, provides recommended maximum speeds based on real-time sea and weather conditions. By following these dynamic speed recommendations, captains can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and the maintenance costs caused by wave impacts and mechanical stress. All voyage data—such as actual speed, recommended speed, number and intensity of hazardous wave impacts, and weather information—is logged in HM Admin, the fleet management system. The system can reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 25%, contributing both to operational efficiency and environmental responsibility. Hefring ehf. was founded by Karl Birgir Björnsson, Magnús Þór Jónsson, and Björn Jónsson, who have backgrounds in engineering research, design, and international boat sales and marketing.
