Lauf Forks hf. was founded in 2011 around the idea of a revolutionary suspension fork for bicycles, specifically designed to absorb small bumps. The company's first fork was launched in 2014. At the time, the market only offered either rigid forks (with no suspension) or heavy, high-maintenance suspension forks intended for rough mountain biking and large impacts. Lauf’s research and development led to a patented suspension technology that stands out in the market. In late 2017, the company introduced its first bicycle. Today, Lauf’s main product line is gravel bikes built around its unique suspension system. In 2020, Lauf shifted from selling through resellers to a direct-to-consumer model. The United States is its largest market, and to better serve it, Lauf opened a warehouse in Virginia in early 2023.
